Mobile Wallet Guide for UAE Expats 2026 — bKash, GCash, Easypaisa, M-Pesa

More than 5 million expats in the UAE send money home via mobile wallets — but not every UAE remittance provider supports every wallet. This guide covers the six major mobile wallets and which UAE apps let you send to them directly.

Mobile Wallets — Key Facts 2026

Important: Wallet availability can change. Always verify that your chosen provider currently supports your recipient's specific wallet before initiating a transfer. Rates shown by providers are indicative — verify the final recipient amount before confirming.

bKash (Bangladesh)

bKash is Bangladesh's dominant mobile financial service with over 50 million registered users. For Bangladeshi expats in the UAE — a large community employed across construction, manufacturing, and hospitality — bKash delivery means their family can receive money directly on a phone, no bank account needed.

Wise, Remitly, and TaptapSend all support direct AED to bKash delivery. The sender initiates in AED and the recipient receives BDT credited to their bKash wallet, typically within minutes once the transfer clears. WorldRemit also supports bKash as a delivery option on the AED to BDT corridor.

Practical tip: Your recipient will need an active bKash account registered to their Bangladeshi phone number. Amounts above certain thresholds may require bKash KYC verification on the recipient side — check with your provider on any limits that apply to wallet delivery.

Nagad (Bangladesh)

Nagad is Bangladesh Post Office's mobile financial service and a growing rival to bKash. Launched in 2019, it has rapidly expanded its user base with government backing and competitive pricing. Some recipients prefer Nagad for specific transactions, particularly government payments and utility bills.

Wise and Remitly support Nagad delivery from UAE. The product is newer and provider support is not as universal as bKash — if your recipient specifically uses Nagad, verify support on your chosen provider app before initiating. If your recipient is flexible, bKash currently has broader UAE provider coverage.

GCash (Philippines)

GCash is the Philippines' leading e-wallet with over 60 million registered users. For Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the UAE — one of the country's largest OFW destinations — GCash delivery has become the default way to send money home. Recipients can use GCash funds for bills, purchases, bank transfers, and cash-out at GCash agents across the Philippines.

Wise, Remitly, and WorldRemit all support direct AED to GCash delivery. The sender enters the recipient's GCash-registered Philippine phone number, and PHP arrives in the wallet, typically within minutes for digital app transfers.

OFW note: GCash has a feature called "GCash Padala" specifically for OFW remittances. Some providers route through this directly. Your recipient can send the GCash funds to any Philippine bank account or cash out at a GCash partner outlet.

Easypaisa (Pakistan)

Easypaisa is one of Pakistan's oldest and most established mobile wallets, operated by Telenor Pakistan. It has over 30 million active users and is widely used for bill payments, peer transfers, and now increasingly for receiving international remittances. Easypaisa agents are available across Pakistan, including rural areas.

Wise, Remitly, and TaptapSend all support Easypaisa delivery on the AED to PKR corridor. Transfers typically credit within minutes to the recipient's Easypaisa-registered number. Western Union also supports Easypaisa as a delivery method.

JazzCash (Pakistan)

JazzCash (formerly Mobilink Cash) is operated by Jazz, Pakistan's largest telecom network. It has been growing rapidly with a strong presence in urban and semi-urban areas. JazzCash is particularly popular among younger Pakistani users and those on Jazz mobile plans.

Note that Easypaisa and JazzCash's parent companies have undergone consolidation, but the two consumer wallets remain separate products. Your recipient may use one and not the other — confirm which wallet they actively use before sending.

Wise, Remitly, and TaptapSend support JazzCash delivery from UAE. Western Union also supports it. Provider availability is broadly similar to Easypaisa, but verify directly with your chosen provider.

M-Pesa (Kenya)

M-Pesa is the mobile money system that built the template for mobile wallets globally. Launched in Kenya in 2007, it is now deeply embedded in daily financial life — bill payments, peer transfers, merchant payments, and savings all run through M-Pesa. The Kenyan diaspora in the UAE uses it extensively for remittances.

WorldRemit is particularly strong on the AED to M-Pesa corridor, with competitive rates and fast delivery. TaptapSend also supports M-Pesa delivery. Western Union allows senders to send to M-Pesa through their agent and digital networks.

M-Pesa tip: The recipient only needs their M-Pesa-registered Safaricom number to receive funds. Kenya's M-Pesa also supports Lipa Na M-Pesa (merchant payments) and can transfer funds to Kenyan bank accounts directly — so receiving via M-Pesa gives your recipient maximum flexibility.
