What you need

Step-by-step guide

1

Go to Wise or download the app

Visit wise.com or download the Wise app (App Store or Google Play). Tap "Register" and enter your email, or sign up with Google.

Tip: Use the same email you use for UAE banking — makes it easier to recognize Wise in your inbox.

2

Choose "Personal" account

Select "Personal" (not Business). Enter your full legal name exactly as on your passport — mismatches cause verification delays.

3

Enter your UAE address

Select "United Arab Emirates" as your country of residence. Enter your Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah address. This is your residential address, not your employer's.

4

Upload Emirates ID + passport

Wise requires two documents: your Emirates ID (front and back) and your passport photo page. Take photos in good lighting — blurry or dark photos cause rejections. Some accounts also require a short video selfie.

Tip: Verification usually takes minutes. If it takes longer than 24 hours, contact Wise support.

5

Add AED to your Wise balance

Once verified, tap "Add money" → "AED". Funding options: UAE bank transfer (free, a few hours), Visa/Mastercard debit card (small fee, instant), or Apple Pay.

Tip: Bank transfer is cheapest. Card is fastest if you need to send urgently.

6

Set up and confirm your first transfer

Tap "Send money", enter the AED amount, pick the currency (INR, PKR, PHP, etc.), add your recipient's bank details. Review the rate, fee, and delivery time — then confirm.

Tip: Wise shows the exact amount your recipient will receive before you confirm. No surprises.

Common questions

How long does Wise verification take in UAE?
Most UAE accounts are verified within minutes to a few hours. In rare cases it can take up to 24 hours. Wise will email you when you're approved.
How do I add AED to Wise?
Go to "Add money" → select AED → choose UAE bank transfer (free) or debit card (small fee). Bank transfers typically settle within a few hours. Apple Pay is also supported.
Is Wise cheaper than Al Ansari or LuLu Exchange?
Wise uses the mid-market rate with a transparent fee (typically 0.4–0.8% for AED→INR). Exchange houses typically embed 1–2% in their rate. For transfers above 500 AED, Wise is usually cheaper. At today's rates (1 AED = 25.71 INR), Wise would give more INR for most transfer amounts. Always compare both before sending.
Can I use Wise with my WPS salary?
Yes — transfer from your UAE bank (where WPS is credited) to Wise, then send internationally. Many UAE expats do this monthly.
What currencies can I send from UAE with Wise?
AED to INR (India), PKR (Pakistan), PHP (Philippines), BDT (Bangladesh), NPR (Nepal), LKR (Sri Lanka), EGP (Egypt), GBP (UK), EUR (Europe), USD (USA), and many more. Verify supported corridors at wise.com.
