UAE residents can send money to India up to AED 50,000 per transaction through most licensed providers without additional documentation. Higher amounts require ID verification. Here are the current limits by provider type.
UAE Central Bank (CBUAE) transfer limits
CBUAE does not impose a universal per-transaction cap, but requires all transfers above AED 10,000 to be reported under AML regulations. Providers set their own limits within CBUAE guidelines:
- UAE exchange houses: typically AED 50,000 per transaction, up to AED 200,000/month with Emirates ID
- Digital apps (Wise, Remitly): AED 25,000–100,000 per transfer depending on verification tier
- UAE bank wires: higher limits, but significantly slower and more expensive
India receiving limits
On the India side, receiving limits depend on local regulations. For India: RBI permits NRIs to receive unlimited inbound remittances. For Pakistan: SBP allows unlimited inbound transfers with proper documentation. Always check with your recipient's bank for daily crediting limits.
How to send larger amounts from UAE
For transfers above AED 50,000: provide Emirates ID + source-of-funds documentation (salary slip, bank statement). Some providers require a face-to-face visit for first large transfers. Split across multiple days if needed — but inform your provider to avoid AML flagging. Use a licensed provider only.
